What's It Like to Work in Corrections?

Did you know that a CCA correctional center is one of the safest, most modern and cleanest workplaces around?

We take pride in our correctional facilities. They are well-maintained and regularly updated. Many people who’ve never been in a prison or jail are amazed and changed once they’ve seen a CCA facility.

We are a safe and secure environment around the clock. Most of our correctional professionals wear a uniform and believe in protocol and following an established chain of command. CCA jails, prisons and detention centers – like most correctional facilities – have many locks, some bars and a number of gates designed to keep our employees, inmates and the greater community safe. Security is our number one goal – 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

A CCA facility is like a small town in terms of the many types of professionals who provide a multitude of services for inmates and communities. Our correctional facilities feature kitchens, dining halls, places of worship, classrooms, vocational training centers, healthcare clinics, recreational areas, housing units, administrative offices and more. Our employees are correctional officers, security supervisors and managers, administrative clerks, executive leaders, teachers, nurses, doctors, trainers, counselors and more.

Some are new to corrections. They’ve learned the ropes through training and experience and are now solid professionals. Others are veterans who’ve established lifelong careers with our company or transitioned to CCA after distinguished careers with federal, state or county correctional agencies. Whatever their background, our employees are united in their drive and desire to protect public safety, rehabilitate inmates, give back to communities, bring innovation and security to government and save hardworking taxpayers’ dollars.
